Fruticose Lichens Make an Appearance

Fruticose lichens are those that furl out, not quite leaf-like but thinner, more like the veins of a leaf. They crisp across damp wooden branches, creeping and enveloping the wood in their green forms. I love their shrubby forms, especially this time of year where the dampness means they really take over the otherwise almost-lifeless-looking trees with their bright green.
The newest addition to my online shop, I've added these fruticose lichens. I started first being inspired by how to emanate the colourful powdery lichens' surface in watercolour. This took a few attempts but bleeding the colours together was really fun and led to lots of interesting forms.
Over the top I printed a lino print that I'd carved of a fruticose structure. Due to the process of how I print my colours and paint watercolour, each one is slightly different and completely unique.
