People's History Museum Makers Market May 2025

I shared a stall at the People's History Museum May Day Makers Market and it was such fun! This was my first ever stool and I was very stressed getting everything together....but it all came together in the end! It was so interesting to speak to people about art, wellbeing, printing and felting. It was also so incredibly validating that a few people liked my work and bought it.
It also felt incredibly important to be in the People's History Museum. I first visited the museum before I moved to Manchester and it is one of my go-tos. Museums hold a place in my heart for sites that I go to when feeling overwhelmed or in need of quiet. Fast forward to now I work on a research project, on a work package gathering lesser known stories for an online curated museum for young people, built to be supportive to young people's mental health and increase access to arts and culture. As someone who would have probably really benefitted from this (and does working on this project), it feels especially important to be involved with. I came to the People's History Museum again as part of the project to look at items such as the Peterloo Cane and abolitionist postcards.
It was wonderful to be part of.
