The Patron Saint of Ice Skating?!
Share
Yes that's right- there is a patron saint of ice skating! On a recent research project I was working on, I got the opportunity to do research about St Lidwina, a dutch mystic who suffered an ice skating injury and has since been venerated as the patron saint of ice skaters as well as the chronically ill.
And of course, as is only natural, I made a lino cut about her. This lino cut is inspired by one of the few depictions of her: a wood drawing entitled "Lidwina's fall on the ice" made in 1498.
Check out St Lidwina's interesting life and if you want a little medieval Lidwina inspired key ring or earring, go have a look at them on my page!
